Overseas Chinese organizations call for peaceful reunification of China
font size

Organizations of Overseas Chinese and foreign nationals of the Chinese origin on Saturday called for joint efforts to work for the peaceful reunification of China and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation at an early date.

According to a declaration adopted by the third fraternity conference of the organizations held in the national capital, the overseas Chinese and foreign nationals of the Chinese origin are in firm opposition to any "Taiwan Independence" secessionist activities, acknowledging that China's state sovereignty and territorial integrity concerns "the core interests of the Chinese nation."

The peaceful reunification of the country has always been the aspiration of all Chinese worldwide for over half a century, said the declaration.

"The secessionist forces of 'Taiwan Independence' and their activities have increasingly become the biggest real danger to peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and also the biggest scourge to the process of peaceful unification of China," said the declaration.

The organizations also expressed their strong support to the Anti-Secession Law enacted by the top Chinese legislature in March, saying that the law will greatly promote the process of peaceful reunification and safeguard peace and stability across the Straits and Asia-Pacific region.

"China is our common home," said the declaration, calling on the Chinese all over the world to unite regardless of their political beliefs and do their utmost for the peaceful reunification of the country and revitalization of the Chinese nation.

The third fraternity conference of organizations of overseas Chinese and foreign nationals of the Chinese origin, which opened in Beijing Thursday, is scheduled to close Monday in Xiamen city of east China's Fujian Province on the west side of the Taiwan Straits.
