Welcome to Dehong

Dehong, bordering on the Federal Republic of Myanmar On three sides, is situated in the western part of Yunnan Province.
Scenic spots in Dehong Prefecture contain subtropical natural scenes, building of Hinayana Buddhism, customs and culture of the Dai people, Dai style food, border trade and traveling to Myanmar through the border.

Places To See

Menghuan Grand Golden Pagoda, with a height of 1,079 meters, is located at Leiyarang Mountain in the southeast of Luxi and takes only about several minutes’ drive from the downtown. Leiyarang Mountain is from Dai language and means the place where wild grass clears the way.

Ethnic Culture

They call themselves "Dai ", "Daile", or "Daiya". "Dai" means "people who ardently love freedom and peace ". The Dai nationality is divided into three branches, the Han Dai, the Shui Dai and the Huayao Dai.

Lisu Nationality

Lisu minority is an ancient people, whose name first appeared in the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Achang Nationality

The Achang people believe in supernatural beings and worship their ancestors.

De'ang Nationality

The De'ang ethnic group is one of the oldest tribes living in the southwest frontier region.

Jingpo Nationality

They are fond of drinking wine, chewing tobacco, Luzi and betel nuts. They believe in a primitive multi-god religion, and a few of them are Christians.
