Tibetan orphan learns Thangka painting (3)

Chosang, an 8-year-old orphan born in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is now learning Thangka painting from a veteran Thangka master in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet.

Chosang was adopted by Sonam Jokteng, a senior Thangka painter, and became his prentice in Taktse County of Lhasa in October and was admitted by Taktse Primary School with the help of Taktse local government in November.

In school, little Chiosang is not only taken good care of by tutors and classmates, he also receives such gifts as food and clothes from the staff. Easy-going as he is, Chosang soon gets along well with other kids.

After class, Sonam Jokteng teaches Chosang Thakngka painting. So far Chosang has come to grips with basic Thangka painting skills.

"Chosang is talented in painting and is a fast learner," said the veteran Thangka painter.
