Japan must face up to history in Abe era (2)

(People's Daily Online)

Before the campaign for Lower House election, the election program of Liberal Democratic Party had said that it will no longer consider the feelings of neighbors because of self-flagellated view of history and biased contents in the old history textbooks, but tend to respect Japanese tradition and promote the spirit of patriotism.

As everyone knows, the people of a country will learn the history from the history textbooks. Sticking to wrong view of history, Japan is impossible to become a “normal” country and win forgiveness and respect of Asian countries.

According to media analysis in Japan, the actions of Abe Cabinet on historical issues aim to ease relations with neighboring countries such as China and South Korea, thus getting rid of economic difficulties and winning the Senate election in July 2013. But Japan’s neighbors will not barter away principles, and will never become dolls under Japan’s control.

Looking back upon the modern history of Japan, the reason for its repeated failures was that it thought itself clever and underestimated the intelligence and strengths of others. Therefore, Japan is impossible to abandon the bad habit of playing tricks in major issues of principle if it does not rethink the history of invading other countries.
