Esteemed monks: Tibetan religious policy better than ever (2)

The 16-year-old 7th Reting Rinpoche sitting opposite to the 78-year-old Khenpo Karchen Losang Phuntso said: "After I came to the Reting Monastery in Lhasa, I studied in the Sera Monastery. Besides learning lections from teachers, I also learn Chinese, English, and mathematics."

He added that the religious policies in Tibet are very good and he would devote himself to the religious cultivation and improving Buddhist attainments to contribute to the social stability.

During the discussion, the young Reting Suonam Phuntso read the government report in Tibetan language very carefully and took notes from time to time.

Beside the 16-year-old Reting Rinpoche is the 78-year-old Khenpo Karchen Losang Phuntso, who is the oldest religious deputy of the Tibet People's Political Consultative Conference that attracts media's attention. Khenpo is a Tibetan salutation to an abbot.

An esteem monk from the Tashilhunpo Monastery of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism also called on the religious circle to carry on the traditional spirit of eminent and senior monks including the ancestry Tsongkhapa of Gelug Sect, Phagpa (one of the five ancestors of the Sakya Sect Tibetan Buddhism), the 10th Panchen Lama, and the Phagpalha Hutuktu (the current being Gelek Namgyel who is the vice chairman of the C.P.P.C.C.) to practice Buddhist cultivation with the love for the state and the religion, and to be a moral guide for all monks, nuns and Buddhist followers.

According to source, among the over 600 deputies of this year's Tibet People's Political Consultative Conference, 116 are from the religious circle, which marks a new record on the history of Tibet People's Political Consultative Conference.
