When winter comes, the water of the Yamzhog Yumco Lake, known as one of the three holy lakes in Tibet becomes frozen. Tourists and vistors enjoy skating on the lake.

The Yamzhog Yumco Lake is the largest inland lake at the northern foot of the Himalayas. The lake, more than 70 kilometers to the southwest of Lhasa City, lies in Nakartse County of Lhoka Prefecture in the southern part of Tibet and covers 678 square kilometers with its surface at an altitude of 4,441 meters.

As deep as 60 meters, the lake is deemed as one of the "three holy lakes" in Tibet.
