On June, 5th, an environment-themed campaign was launched in Qusum County, Lhoka Prefecture of Tibet Autonomous Region to popularize relevant laws and regulations and cultivate the awareness of environmental protection. It received fervent responses from all walks of life including officials, armed forces, students, farmers and herdsmen who all took part in.
Provided with woven bags, brooms and other cleaning tools, participants took initiative to clean the garbage in Qusum River and other tourist attractions. During the campaign, they made hard efforts and cleared altogether some 40 tons of garbage.
The main organizer of this campaign from local environment agency said that guided by the principle of the 18th CPC National Congress, this campaign was aimed to improve the agricultural production condition and the living standard of farmers and herdsmen. Through our commitment, our next generations could enjoy a green and clean homeland.
In addition, prior to the Environment Day this year, local officials of Qusum County spread knowledge of environmental protection to the vast number of farmers, herdsmen as well as pedlars through door to door visit and flysheet handout.
Elsewhere in Nyingchi Prefecture of Tibet, local environment agency also staged a campaign to echo the World Environment Day. During the campaign about 2,000 publicity materials, 1,000 environment-friendly shopping bags and 100 environmental protection know-how posters had been handed out.
