Silk Road International Ski Resort: Urumqi, Xinjiang

Recommendation reason: the largest ski resort in northwestern China, with sightseeing cable cars direct to the primeval forest.

Covering an area of 16 square kilometers, Silk Road International Ski Resort is the biggest in northwest and one of the best ski resorts in China. It is located in Pingxiliang Village, Shuixigou Town, about 38 kilometers south of Urumqi, Xinjiang.

Travel tips:

Entrance fee: Varied depending on the different periods of the snow season. Middle period: 150 yuan/two hours, doubled during the New Year's Day and the Spring Festival. 80 yuan/person at night.

Transportation: Travelers can take direct bus from Urumqi International Grand Bazaar to the resort.

Accommodation: Chinese Culture Hotel, Finland Chalet Hotel, etc.

Food: Travelers can enjoy traditional local food in the resort, including bone soup, barbeque, pilaf, naan, and lamb stew.
