China's Hubei reports no new COVID-19 cases

No new confirmed, asymptomatic, or suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in central China's Hubei Province Monday, the provincial health commission said Tuesday. By Monday, Hubei had three confirmed imported cases in the provincial capital Wuhan and one asymptomatic case in the city of Yichang.

Officials rule out domestic transmission as origin of Dalian COVID-19 cluster

Officials have ruled out the possibility of domestic transmission as the origin of the COVID-19 infections in the northeastern Chinese city of Dalian, said Zhao Zuowei, director of the municipal health commission on Monday. The genome sequencing of collected samples suggest a difference in genome sequencing from other domestic transmissions, Zhao noted.

Brazil's COVID-19 death toll tops 94,000

Brazil on Sunday recorded 541 new deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 94,104, according to the country's health ministry. Meanwhile, tests have detected 25,800 new infections, taking the total caseload to 2,733,677, said the ministry.

U.S. hardest-hit state of California sees daily new COVID-19 cases surge over 9,000

California, the hardest-hit state by COVID-19 in the United States, witnessed a surge of 9,032 newly-confirmed cases as of Saturday, the California Department of Public Health said Sunday. With a population of around 40 million, the country's most populous state saw its confirmed cases pile up to a total number of over half a million, or 509,162, to date, the department said in a daily report.
