From March 5 to 7, President Xi Jinping joined group discussions and deliberations with national lawmakers and political advisors during the 2021 two sessions. He asked questions and gave instructions on key issues ranging from education to anti-corruption efforts.
-- Chinese lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to adopt a decision on improving Hong Kong's electoral system. -- The Election Committee of the HKSAR will be reformed in its size, composition and formation method, and will be given more power.
-- With 55.75 million rural residents lifted out of poverty over the past five years, China will meet its first centenary goal within the set time frame -- complete building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
The annual sessions of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference kicked off on March 4. During the meetings, lawmakers and political advisers from all walks of life across the country gathered together to discuss China’s development path.
