US President George W. Bush on Sunday toured the site of the World Trade Center, attending a memorial service for victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11.

US President George W. Bush on Sunday toured the site of the World Trade Center, attending a memorial service for victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11.
The president was on a two-day visit to New York. On Saturday, he spoke at the general debate of the 56th session of the United Nations General Assembly, focusing on the campaign against terrorism.
His tour of the center occurred just two months after the attacks in which the twin 110-storey towers of the WTC were hit and toppled by two hijacked passenger planes, leaving more than 4,000 people dead or missing.
At the site of tons of rubble, Bush listened as the names of 86 countries that lost their citizens in the attacks were read. The flags of the countries were carried by uniformed members of the U.S. military services to the official podium where they were raised and lowered.
