COSCO Logistics Opens in Beijing

The China Ocean Shipping Company(COSCO) Logistics opened Tuesday in Beijing, an important step in COSCO's aim to become a global logistics operator.

Ye Weilong, General Manager of COSCO Logistics, said that the opening of COSCO Logistics is a milestone in the development of COSCO's logistics industry.

COSCO Logistics offers services to ship and cargo owners from home and abroad, expanding services which include modern logistics,international shipping agencies, international integrated transport in multi-forms, public cargo agencies, air transport agencies and land transport agencies through railway and road transport.

The newly-formed COSCO Logistics has set up sub-branches in eight major coastal cities in China, established close cooperativerelations with COSCO's overseas branches, and signed mutual agencyagreements with cargo agencies from 40 countries.

COSCO has set up a national logistics service network, with 300logistics stations dotted in 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China.

According to Ye, COSCO Logistics will put the emphasis on further exploration of logistics markets in the automobile and electric appliance industries, projects and exhibitions, and specialized logistics fields like refrigeration and the transport of dangerous goods.

In addition COSCO Logistics will open two special railways for cargo transportation, develop domestic express transportation through highways, and establish an air transportation network centered in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
