Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday condemned the United States for "seeking to impose an international dictatorship on all countries," the official IRNA news agency reported.

Speaking to large groups of teachers and workers from throughout the country on the occasion of the May day, Khamenei lambasted Washington's indifference to the fact that the feelings of world peoples have been hurt by the crimes being committed by the Israeli regime in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He deplored recent events in the Palestinian areas -- massacre of innocent people, destruction of houses and arrest of the youth, and denounced the United States for supporting "the most heinous crimes ever committed by the Israeli regime."

"The policies of the US and Zionist regime have failed despite their claims to the contrary because the Palestinian nation has not surrendered itself to their wishes and injustices and would neither do so in the future," Khamenei said, adding that the Palestinian nation has so far tolerated all the pressures.

He warned American statesmen not to try to play down the Palestinians' martyrdom-seeking operations, saying that the Palestinian nation is alive and vigilant and will continue its way.

The Iranian leader urged the world nations and Muslim states, especially the Arab ones, to provide practical support to the Palestinians, describing the support as another form of the struggle against the Zionist regime's crimes.

"Iran's proposal on a month-long oil embargo against the countries supporting the Zionist regime is serious and the Arab and Muslim oil exporting states are required to make serious decisions in this respect instead of paying lip services," Khamenei said.

The Iranian nation will not allow any official to compromise Islamic stances and the country's fundamental and vital interests, he warned, adding that resistance of the Iranian nation and government is the only form of the struggle against the U.S. greedy desires and ambitions.

On March 29, Israel declared Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat its enemy and sent troops and tanks into the West Bank city of Ramallah to impose siege on Arafat's headquarters. Since then, the Israeli widespread military offensive against Palestinians in the West Bank has left many Palestinians dead and wounded.

Iran does not recognize Israel and has been supporting Palestinian resistance groups in their movement against Israeli occupation.
