Milorad Kosanovic, head coach of Chinese first division side Dalian Shide, said Wednesday in Dalian that China should employ another foreign coach to take over the national soccer team.
Former coach Bora Milutinovic, who led China to its first-ever World Cup finals, had stepped down in the wake of the South Korea/Japan World Cup this summer.
Kosanovic, who steered Shide to win the league title in the 2000 and 2002 seasons, said local coaches are not qualified to guide the national team in the bid for a berth in the 2006 finalsin Germany.
"To be frank, I don't think any Chinese coach is capable of filling the post right row," Kosanovic told Xinhua during an exclusive interview.
"China should find another high-level foreign coach."
Kosanovic also said the Chinese Football Association (CFA) should establish schools for coaches to improve their ability.
"If China has its own coaching schools, a qualified local coachfor the national team may come out from them in the next four to six years." said the Yugoslav.
