China Makes Several Major Breakthroughs in Space Technology

An official from the China National Space Administration says China made a series of major breakthroughs in space technology in the past year, which has contributed to national economic development and the peaceful use of outer space.

An official from the China National Space Administration says China made a series of major breakthroughs in space technology in the past year, which has contributed to national economic development and the peaceful use of outer space.

Director of the administration Luan Enjie says developing space technology has always been an important component of the country's overall development strategy.

Last year, the country successfully launched two unmanned spacecraft, the Shenzhou III and the Shenzhou IV, and sent a meteorological satellite, a marine-sensing satellite and its second Earth surveillance satellite into orbit.
