A senior Taliban commander was killedin a conflict in central Afghanistan, a local Afghan official confirmed on Monday.

A senior Taliban commander was killedin a conflict in central Afghanistan, a local Afghan official confirmed on Monday.

According to Security official of Kandahar Mohammad Salim Asas,the commander, Razzahq Nafies, was also a close friend of Mullah Omer, the leader of Taliban.

"After seriously investigation, we can confirm that Razzahq Nafies, member of the 10-strong Taliban Shura (the top council), had been killed in a bloody clash that occurred two weeks ago involving US-led coalition and Afghan forces against suspected Taliban in the province of Urozgan," he said.
