The US television network ABC reports that former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein withdrew around a billion US dollars from the country's Central Bank several hours before the US invasion.

American troops have reportedly found a letter from the former Iraqi leader authorising the bank to pay out the money to himself and one of his supporters.

Most of the money has been recovered, but around 132 million dollars is still missing. It is believed the money is being used to fund rebel attacks against coalition forces.
