The Chinese women's soccer team had an English class taught by their new head coach on Christmas Eve.

No Christmas shopping, and no silent night dinner party. The Chinese women's soccer team had a special gathering on Christmas Eve - an English class taught by their new head coach.

The team, which is undergoing intensive training in south China's city of Guangzhou in preparation for next year's Athens Olympics, had a one-hour English class led by 33-year-old coach, Zhang Haitao.

Although inexperienced in coaching a women's soccer team, Zhang Haitao is known for his language skills. And his good grasp of English with a unique London accent made him an idol among his young players after the very first class.

The Chinese coach says during the six weeks of training, he'll teach his players English twice a week and the next class will be on Friday. (CRI)
