Arab nations ready to hold summit soon: LAS chief

All Arab nations agree to hold as soon as possible the 16th summit meeting of Arab nations, Secretary-general of the League of Arab States (LAS) Amr Mahmoud Moussa said Sunday.

All Arab nations agree to hold as soon as possible the 16th summit meeting of Arab nations, Secretary-general of the League of Arab States (LAS) Amr Mahmoud Moussa said Sunday.

Upon arriving the Casablanca Airport of Morocco, Moussa told the press that the summit has been set to be held in May, as all Arab leaders hope to meet as soon as possible.

Moussa said leaders are holding consultations on the venue of the meeting at present.

Currently holding the rotating presidency of the minister's council of the Arab league, Morocco supported Tunis' claim to hostthe meeting as scheduled and hoped that the event could come off in three weeks.

Egypt, however, had suggested that the meeting could be held inits country after Tunis announced that it would postpone hosting the meeting.

Recently, leaders of the Arab countries are busy having shuttle diplomacy to settle the venue issue of the summit.

Local media said that the purpose of Moussa's two day working visit to Morocco is to hear from Morocco's opinion on the summit. Before that, he had visited Tunis and Libya.

Saudi Arabian crown prince and foreign minister also visited Morocco Friday and Saturday respectively to discuss issues concerning the summit.
