Ancient dinosaur fossils discovered in Shandong
font size

Eight fossilized dinosaur eggs and a piece of limb bone were discovered at a road construction site in Laiyang City of east China's Shandong Province, according to an official of a local museum.

Workers found the fossils after a truck poured a load of soil at a construction site, in the north of the city's Jiangjunding Village. They divided up and hid the fossils in conjunction with the truck driver. The city's museum was tipped off to the discovery and recovered the fossils with help of local police.

The light reddish brown bone piece was believed to be the end of a limb. Four of the eggs had their surface broken and another brood of eggs were well maintained, according to the museum.

Experts with the museum said they were not sure the exact age of the fossils and planned to send them to the provincial museum for identification.
