A Honduran ship loaded with 2.1 kg of cocaine has been seized by the Panamanian, US and Colombian naval authorities, a Panamanian official said Tuesday.
The ship called Miss Lorraine also had a Honduran crew and was captured Monday in international waters some 96.5 km north of Colon, in Panama's Exclusive Caribbean Economic Zone, said the official from the National Maritime Service.
The ship left Colon last Saturday and was heading for the Honduran Roatan island with electrical household appliances and furniture, while the drugs "could have been loaded from a fast motorboat," he added.
Meanwhile, according to reports from the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa, the local naval forces also intercepted Tuesday in the nation's Caribbean region a Honduran ship called Tony Star, which carried one ton of cocaine apparently coming from Panama.
Honduran Security Minister Oscar Alvarez said the ship was intercepted in the Roatan sector and several people were arrested although the complete load of drugs had not been measured yet.
In another development, two kg of cocaine was discovered in Panama in a Honduran ship investigated by the authorities in this country, said Alvarez.
