Rotating IGC head killed in car bombing

The rotating president of the US-appointed Iraqi Governing Council (IGC), Izzedin Salim, was killed on Monday by a car bomb at a checkpoint in Baghdad, Qatar-based al-Jazeera satellite channel reported.

Salim, also known as Abdul Zahra Othman Mohammad, was in his carwaiting to enter the main US-led coalition compound in Baghdad whenthe car bomb exploded, al-Jazeera said.

At least four people were killed and several wounded in the blast, it added.

Many cars were ablaze and a huge column of black smoke rose intothe sky which was seen from all over the capital.
