A total of 91 people were sick in a food poisoning outbreak at a hotel in Hong Kong, according to cases reported to Hong Kong's Department of Health.
The patients, aged from six to 80, developed diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting after a buffer dinner on July 7, according to government sources Sunday.
At least 19 people had sought medical treatment and are now in stable condition while a 38-year-old man, who was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital, has discharged from the hospital.
Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department ordered the temporary closure of all of the four canteens at the hotel.
A spokesman of the department said the department would send groups of staff members every day to Regal Riverside Hotel where the food poisoning outbreak happened before the hygienic conditions there were allowed to resume the operation of the food outlets.
The department has dispatched two groups of staff members to the hotel in plain clothes to inspect the hygiene conditions of the kitchens of the food outlets and surrounding environment of the hotel.
The Department of Health will conduct further tests to determine the characters of the food poisoning.
