font size

English soccer club Blackburn Rovers showed interest in hiring the son of former Argentine star Diego A. Maradona, according to reports released on Monday in Madrid by English television network BBC.

Diego Maradona, 17, is a midfielder for Italian Serie B club Napoli, whose board of directors was contacted by Blackburn's coach, Graeme Souness, to negotiate a trial of the player in the English team.

The young player just recently met the former Argentine player, after his mother won a legal battle to prove the paternity of the Argentine star.

Diego A. Maradona, 43, is considered one of the best soccer players in history and one of the controversial sports personalities. Last May, he entered a clinic rehabilitation center

in Buenos Aires, Argentina, due to a heart crisis produced by his addiction to cocaine.
