China cuts 4,735 development zones to protect farmers' interests

Correcting illegal land use and infringement upon farmers' interests have become the central task of related departments, as learned from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC and the Ministry of Supervision. Statistics show that in the first half of this year related authorities cut 4,735 development zone plans covering a total area of 24,100 sq km and returned 8.74 billion yuan owned to farmers, or 59 percent of total sum.

During the fist half related departments investigated into and settled a batch of cases of illegal land collection and defaulted compensations to farmers, with a total number of 46,900 cases found and 33,900 investigated.
