Yahoo launches 1G storage in China

Yahoo China has begun to provide one gigabyte (GB) of e-mail storage free of charge, providing the largest-capacity e-mail storage in the country.

The increased storage capacity is open to all Internet users, according to a statement on the Yahoo China web site.

Yahoo e-mail service now has more than 500 million global users, said Zhou Hongyi, president of Yahoo China. "The gigabyte age of e-mail storage is coming."

Some web companies based in China have enlarged storage for their e-mail boxes this year. Sina has upgraded to 30 megabytes (MB) and Netease up to 260 MB, the Beijing Daily Messenger reported.
