China's exports of high-end color TVs grew hugely in the first half of the year, as the country exported 30,000 PDP (plasma display panel) color TVs -- 115 times as many as last year, according to Ministry of Commerce statistics.
The total value of the sets was 55.38 million US dollars, almost 300 times as much as last year.
In the first six months of the year, China's exports of high-end LCD (liquid crystal display) color TV grew 80 percent year-on-year to 1.08 million units worth 210 million US dollars, 4.52 times that of the corresponding period of 2003.
China's total exports of color TVs during the period, reached 18.92 million sets valued at 2.11 billion US dollars, up 56.7 percent and 79 percent respectively.
Color TVs are one of China's major export commodities. In 2003, China sold 32.68 million color TVs with a total value of 3.26 billion US dollars.
