Beer, beverage equipment expo to be held in Beijing

The 2004 China international exposition of beer and drink producing techniques and equipment, the largest of its kind in Asia, will be held in Beijing's China International Exhibition Center in September.

Some 500 beer and drink machinery makers and suppliers from more than 20 countries and regions are expected to participate in the expo, according to China National Light Industrial Machinery Corp (CNLIMC).

The five-day exhibition, sponsored by CNLIMC, is likely to draw 50,000 professionals from beer and beverage equipment manufacturers.

China brewed 25 million tons of beer and produced 24 million tons of other drinks in 2003, the second most in the world after the United States.

CNLIMC will also hold seminars on beer- and drink-producing techniques and discussions on the latest developments in the industry.
