Cambodian PM to attend 3rd conference of Asian political parties in Beijing

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will lead a party delegation to attend the 3rd International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) to be held in Beijing, China on Sept. 3-5, 2004, on behalf of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP), a senior official said on Wednesday.

Also invited by the conference's organization committee is the FUNCINPEC party's President Prince Norodom Ranariddh, Foreign Minister Hor Namhong told reporters.

The theme of the 3rd ICAPP will be "Exchange, Cooperation, Development". Delegates from political parties in Asian countries will focus on topics of regional security and multilateral cooperation, economic growth and social progress, and political party building and national development.

The aim of the conference is to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between political parties in Asian countries and discuss ways to enhance political confidence and economic cooperation in Asia.

The meeting will also release a "Beijing Declaration" after theevent. Last conference was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2002.
