China takes third shooting gold medal at Athens Olympic Games

Chinese Zhu Qinan and Li Jie finished 1-2 in the men's 10m air rifle final with the winner breaking the world record at the Olympic shooting competition Monday in Athens.

Zhu added 103.7 points in the final to 599 from his qualification round for a total of 702.7, 0.2 points over the previous world record set by American Jason Parker in 2000.

Li Jie scored 701.3 points for the silver and Slovakia's Jozef Gonci took the bronze in 697.4. Parker finished eighth in 694.5 points.

It was China's third shooting gold since Du Li and Wang Yifu won gold on Saturday.

The original record of 702.5 was set up by American Jason Parker on June 5, 2003 in Munich, Germany.
