font size

Chinese ace player Wang Liqin outclassed Dutch veteran Trinko Keen 4-1 to take his first singles win in the table tennis tournament of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games Tuesday.

Wang, ranked No.1 in the world and also one of the top favorites for the singles gold in this tournament, conceded his first game 6-11 but staged a strong comeback to take the next four 11-1, 11-8, 11-4 and 11-2.

The 33-year-old Dutch, ranked 31st in the world, appeared to be no match to Wang in both attack, defense and rallies.

Wang, who enjoyed a bye in the first two rounds of the singles, is now in the last 16 of the tournament.
