Olympic events warm IT industry
font size

The ongoing Athens Olympics has brought not only fierce competition in the events, but also numerous opportunities for the information industry, according to CRIENGLISH.com.

New reports say sales of digital products like televisions, DVDs and digital cameras began to rise long before the opening of the Games.

Information services via mobile phones have become another market hit: telecommunications carriers have pushed many Olympics-related services, such as informing users of the latest results through short messages.

Over the past few days, the country's largest mobile operators, China Mobile and China Unicom, have been competing to provide custom-made short message service on the Olympics.

And the IT industry is preparing for an even bigger bonanza from the 2008 Beijing Games.
