Four people injured in bomb explosions in Spain
font size

Four people were wounded on Saturday when two bombs exploded at the tourist localities of Sanjenjo and Baiona, in Galicia, north Spain.

Authorities of the Interior Ministry said the bombs had been placed in garbage containers and exploded at 13:00 p.m. local time(1100 GMT).

Daily Gara received a call from a person supposed to be a member of the separatist organization Basque Homeland and Freedom (ETA) that warned in advance of the attacks.

The authorities mobilized security forces to find the explosive devices, which exploded in the sports dock of Baiona and the Royal Nautical Club of Sanjenjo.

The bomb in Baiona did not cause any victim, but the one exploding near the yachting club injured two Spaniards and two Portuguese citizens. These victims only suffered from mild injuries.

The ETA frequently utilizes Gara to release its communiques.

Seven low-power bombs have exploded this summer in different tourist sites of Spain, in attacks allegedly perpetrated by the ETA.

The ETA, which seeks separation of Basque from Spain, is considered a terrorist organization due to its numerous bomb attacks. During the past 25 years, it has targeted the country's tourism sector.
