    6th Asia Arts Festival opens

The Chinese consulate in New York held this meeting and a photo exhibition on Saturday in commemorating the 100th anniversary of Deng Xiaoping's birth which falls on Aug. 22.

    Subway lines under construction for Beijing 2008 Olympics

    Long-distance run commemorating Rajiv Gandhi in New Delhi

About 15,000 students participated in the competition, which covered 3.5 kilometers this year. The annual race is divided into two age groups, 6-10 and 10-14, inviting both boys and girls. The first five runners in each section of the age group will be granted a scholarship of 1,000 Rupees and the runners ranking before the 25th will also win certain amount of money as a prize. In addition, a monthly scholarship of 100 Rupees will be offered to 25 runners in each section till they complete the secondary education.

    HK issues special stamps marking 100th birth anniversary of Deng Xiaoping

    The special stamps issued by Hongkong Post to mark the centenary of the birth of Deng Xiaoping. With a colorful palette, the stamps feature moments of Deng's life, as well as snapshots of Hong Kong's transitions over the centuries. To pay tribute to Deng's guidance during the transitional period and the contributions he made to Hong Kong, the stamps set his portraits against scenes of a prospering Hong Kong that he helped create. Hongkong Post, China Post and Macao Post each issued a set of special stamps of Deng Xiaoping on the same day.
