Karam Ibrahim of Egypt clinched the gold in wrestling men's Greco-Roman 96kg category at the Athens Olympics on August 26 by defeating Ramaz Nozadze of Georgia 12-1.

The bronze went to Mehmet Ozal of Turkey with a win of 3-2 over Masoud Hashemzadeh of Iran.

Ibrahim, a businessman who described wrestling as "the most interesting sport," started wrestling at the age of 10.

With an expectation of winning an Olympic gold and being a coach, he finished second at the 2003 World Championships.

Nozadze, a bronze medallist at the World Championships in Creteil, France, in 2003 and a European champion the same year, started wrestling in 1994.
