Russian star wrestler Saytiev pockets men's 74kg freestyle gold

Russian star wrestler Buvaysa Saytiev, a five-time world champion, eased to win the men's 74kg freestyle Olympic gold in Athens on August 29 afternoon.

Saytiev, 29, the gold medalist of the Atlanta Olympics, routed Gennadiy Laliyev from Kazakhstan, the bronze medalist of the Sydney Olympics, 7-0 in the final.

Saytiev had also been crowned as European champion in 2000 and 2001. He was named the Freestyle Wrestler of the Year by the International Wrestling Federation in 1996 and 1998.

Cuban Ivan Fundora, the twice Pan American champion in 2003 and 2004, beat Krystian Brzozowski from Poland, who finished fourth in the 2004 European Championships, 3-1 to take the bronze.
