Overseas direct investment up 5.5 percent
font size

China's Ministry of Commerce reports that overseas direct investment by Chinese enterprises totalled nearly 3 billion US dollars last year, up 5 and a half percent over the previous year.

The majority of the investments were in Hong Kong, the United States, Japan and other Asian countries, in retail and wholesale manufacturing, business services and architecture.

This is the first time the Chinese government has issued a report on the country's overseas direct investment.
