In the 50 years since China's adoption of the People's Congress System, China has been keeping on improving construction of democracy and legal system, and made outstanding achievements in system of legislation, administration, decision-making, judicial, personnel, grass root democracy and supervision. Having experienced ups and downs in the fifty years, the People's Congress System has shown strong vitality and become the best pattern for people to exercise their power as masters of the country.

 Residents at the Xidan District Beijing play waist-drums and yange dance to celebrate general election in Dec 1953. The First Session of the First National People's Congress opens in Sept 1954 in Beijing. The holding of the First Session of the First National People's Congress symbolizes the founding of the People's Congress System in China.
 People in Beijing celebrate the birth of the Constitution of the People's Republic of China on Sept. 27th, 1954.
