India test fires Trishul missile
font size

India on Wednesday test fired a short-range, surface-to-air missile from a range in Orissa state in east India, the Indo-Asian News Service quoted defense officials as saying.

The Trishul missile was fired from the range at Chandipur in Balasore district at 2:15 p.m. (0845 GMT), the officials said.

Trishul has a range of nine kilometers and carries a 15-kg warhead.

The program to develop the Trishul missile had been put on the backburner due to serious flaws in its guidance system. But several tests of the missile have been conducted since December last year.
