Top leader of China's head advisory body said on September 25 that it will work harder to operate the system of multi-party cooperation and political consulation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and promote the country's socialist democratic politics.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said CPPCC and its branches across the country will work with non-Communist parties, institutions and people from all ethnic groups to help build China into a better, modernized society.

Jia made the comments while addressing the closing session of the 7th Meeting of the Standing Committee of 10th CPPCC National Committee, which concluded in Beijing Sunday.

On a separate occasion Sunday afternoon, Lu Yongxiang, president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, briefed the committee on the trends and impacts of global science and technology.

Jia, who presided over the lecture, said CPPCC will launch in-depth investigation into major issues concerning science and technology and offer advice and suggestions to policy-makers at various levels.

The issues include the implementation of the strategies to invigorate China through science and technology, sustainable development and education. The advisory body will also investigate the formulation of the country's science and technology strategy and reform of its scientific and technological system.
