The supernatural thriller "The Forgotten" scared up the biggest bucks at North America box office over the weekend, according to preliminary studio estimates released Sunday.

The Sony thriller, starring Julianne Moore, is expected to gross 22 million US dollars in its North American debut, according to box officer tracker Exhibitor Relations.

Last week's leader, "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," dropped to second place, earning about 6.7 million dollars.

The baseball comedy "Mr. 3000" earned 5 million dollars to take the third place, followed by the debut of "First Daughter" and "Resident Evil: Apocalypse," which tied for fourth place with each earning about 4 million dollars.

Rounding out the top 10 were "Cellular" (3.6 million dollars), "Wimbledon" (3.4 million dollars), the debut of "Shaun of the Dead" (3.2 million dollars), "Without a Paddle" (2.3 million dollars) and "Hero" (2.2 million dollars).

Final weekend figures are due to be released on Monday.
