Tung Chee Hwa to lead delegation to attend National Day celebrations in Beijing

At the invitation of the Central People's Government, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee Hwa will lead a delegation to Beijing on Thursday to attend celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The delegation, comprising more than 200 representatives from various sectors of the community, will meet state leaders before attending a reception and a cultural performance.

Tung will leave for Beijing Thursday morning and depart the capital the same night.

During Tung's absence, Secretary for Justice Elsie Leung will be acting Chief Executive.
