Intel Corp., the world's largest chip maker, on Tuesday introduced a powerful mobile chip running at 3.33 GHz for notebook computers.
Intel said the mobile Pentium 4 processor 548 is designed for larger-sized notebook PCs, also known as "desktop replacements," that typically feature large screens, full-size keyboards and multiple drives.
The chip, built on 90nm process technology, supports Hyper-Threading Technology and offers a 1MB Level 2 cache, according to Intel.
Notebooks based on Pentium 4 processor 548 allow users to take advantage of multithreaded and processor-intensive multimedia applications in a portable form factor, Intel claims.
Intel priced the Pentium 4 processor 548 supporting HT Technology at 262 US dollars each in 1,000-unit quantities.
