    New tech turns hundreds of years old date-palm trees a cash cow

    There are more than 1000 Chinese date-palm trees which are over 300 years old in Huanghua city, Hebei Province. New technologies have made dates growing a pillar industry here. More than 6 million kilograms of dates was yielded last year. The trees, bringing 5000 yuan income, were called "green bank" by farmers.

    Paper-cutting for National Day

    Paper-cutting is a traditional art of handcraft in China. This piece of paper-cutting called " A happy song fora glorious age" is designed to celebrate the 55th anniversary of founding of PRC.

    Autumn harvest

    Combined reaping machines are used for this autumn's harvest in Qifang county, Zaoyang City in central China's Hubei Province. Farmers are freed from heavy workload. The photo shows farmers in Gaoji village here is reaping rice in the field.

    A 23-minute fireworks display lighted up Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor Friday in a celebration of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
