DPRK urges thorough probe into S. Korea's nuclear experimentsThe Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on October 2 called for a thorough investigation into South Korea's nuclear experiments, saying the truth about these experiments needs to be established before progress can be made on inter-Korean relations. "It will be impossible to expect any development of inter-Korean relations unless the truth about South Korea's secret nuclear experiments is probed," said a spokesman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland of the DPRK in a statement. The statement called South Korea's recently disclosed past nuclear experiments "a tip of the iceberg of serious nuclear development activities" in the country. These nuclear development activities "helped South Korea acquire basic criteria for nuclear armament such as extraction of nuclear substances, production of nuclear weapons, access to nuclear delivery means and preparations for a nuclear war," the statement said. "This is a serious case as it seriously affects the situation on the Korean peninsula and relations between the north and the south," it said. "If South Korea has access to nuclear weapons, they will be used for attacking its fellow countrymen in league with outsiders. These nuclear weapons will exterminate the nation and reduce the Korean peninsula to ruins," the statement said. Source: Xinhua |
