About 300 photos featuring the friendship between the peoples of China and Africa were on display Monday here at the National Museum of Tanzania.

The weeklong exhibition, co-organized by the Tanzanian Ministryof Education and Culture and the Chinese Embassy in Dar es Salaam, demonstrated various aspects of China as well as the time-honored friendship and cooperation between China and the African continent.

Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Yu Qingtai said at the opening ceremony that the exhibition was aimed at continually promoting the mutual understanding between the Chinese and the Tanzanians who have joined hands in fostering a solid relationship in the past 40 years.

Tanzanian Minister of Education and Culture Joseph Mungai said the exhibition reconfirmed his belief that "China is a role model in social-economic development for Tanzania, Africa and the rest of the developing world."

The minister said the Tanzanians are aware of the contribution by China to Tanzania's development through landmark projects in health, water supply and conservancy, and the Tanzania-Zambia Railway and they are expecting the bilateral cooperation to cover more fields.
