The issue of Islamic terrorism will remain for a long time, and this will not change regardless of whoever wins the US presidential elections this year, Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said on Wednesday night.
"Islamic terrorism is going to be a problem for this world for avery long time and that problem will not change whoever wins the elections," Lee said in a dialogue with some 1,000 participants tothe annual Global Entrepolis conference here.
As for the US presidential elections, Lee said that what Asia need is a president who can withstand the pressures for protectionism, outsourcing, blocks to free trade, who is able to keep the economy free going and more important is able to combat what would be a long and painful, and difficult fight against terrorism.
He stressed the need for the United States and European countries to unite in dealing with terrorism, saying that to do that the United States needs to get the Europeans to come on boardbecause the United States cannot do this alone.
