China's mechan-electronic products export to exceed US$30 mlnLiu Meikun, vice president of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), said when attending the 96th Chinese Export Commodities Fair (Canton Fair) that China's export trade volume of machinery and electronic products will maintain the high growth rate. As estimated, the total annual trade volume this year is expected to exceed 300 billion Yuan. In recent years, China's export of machinery and electronic products has increased rapidly and come up on top of the national export for years. The total export volume increased sharply from 118.97 billion Yuan in 2001 to 157 billion Yuan in 2002, and 227.46 billion Yuan in 2003. According to the customs statistics, the total export volume of China's machinery and electronic products in the first three quarters this year reached 225 billion Yuan, almost equal to the annual volume of last year, and in particular the volume of September hit an amazing 30 billion high. "China will surely achieve an annual export volume of 300 billion Yuan if on this growth rate," said Liu. Along with the rapid increase of export, the structure of China's machinery and electronic products also experienced an earth-shaking change. According to Liu, in the mid 1980s, the export of domestic machinery and electronic products were mainly those metal equipment, tools and metal products that involved little technology. However, automatic data processing equipment (ADPE), household appliance, consumer electronic devices and telecommunication facilities have become the "main force" of China's machinery and electronic export products 20 years later.
