    Heilongjiang forest fires under control

    The forest fires in Heilongjiang Province were brought under control. After six days of hard work, the fire in Dahinggan Mountains is completely under control, while the fires in Heihe and Zhanhe have been basically quenched. The fire in Yichun forest region has stopped spreading.

    Earthquake in Yunnan leaves 12 injured

    The earthquake that shocked Yunnan Province in southwest China Tuesday morning has left 12 people injured, with one in critical condition. More than 20,000 houses have been dilapidated by the quake and some 1,000 students in about 20 schools forced to stop class.

    Alitalia strives to recover

    An airplane of Alitalia (Italian Airlines) lands at the international airport of Milan, Italy, Oct. 17, 2004.
