China expects good agricultural harvest this year
font size

China expects a good harvest in the agriculture this year as the total grain output is estimated to increase sharply over the previous year, a spokesman for China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Friday.

NBS spokesman Zheng Jingping told a press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council that the early rice output reached 32.1 billion kilograms, up 8.8 percent, following the 4.8 percent growth of summer grains.

"Good harvests of autumn crops can be expected," Zheng said.

Zheng attributed the expected harvests to the successful policies and measures the central government had taken to support agriculture production and arouse farmers' enthusiasm in growing grains.
